Endoretic is kept by an ordinary Chinese blogger who loves Japanese animation, novels, electronic music, and rhythm games.
Why I began recording
Some of the things I love are moving farther away in time.
More capable AI agents suddenly made building a personal site feel possible. At the same time, I began to notice that parts of the culture I care about were receding into the past. There is some irony in using a new technology to preserve the memory of an older future; that tension became part of the reason to begin.
What that includes
Turn-of-the-century Japanese science fiction imagining digital futures with equal parts wonder and melancholy; animation and novels rooted in an increasingly distant period; rhythm games shaped by an earlier internet and its ways of listening...they might not have a second opportunity on earth.
Why a personal site
A personal site gives finished tools, notes, and unfinished work one durable address under my control. It can preserve their context instead of scattering it across platforms, and it should remain readable years from now.
